One more win will do it for the Baptists
seconds as their end of season surge gained momentum against a physical Elite
side.
A though opening passage saw a young Battle
side stand up well to their more experienced opponents and take the lead around
the half hour when a scuffed goal kick from Elite fell to the feet of David
Ndunduma who casually lobbed the keeper.
Seb Elliott fired a twenty-five yard free
kick just wide on the stroke of half time before the sides went in separated by
the one goal.
Eight minutes in to the second half it was
all level as a misplaced free kick by the away side handed possession back to
Elite. A high ball was put through the middle and not dealt with, allowing the
Elite forward to finish.
Looking for an immediate repose, Dom Fowler
lobbed the keeper from a tight angle and saw his shot come off the bar, before
in the sixty-fifth minute Ndunduma got his second. He picked up the ball in the
Hastings half and ran at the defence, beating the last man before cheekily
taking it round the goal keeper twice before rolling the ball home.
Five minutes later he had his hattrick as he beat two defenders to the ball and rounded
the keeper again for the third.
Aaron Dreeling then came on for Stuart
Calderwood and in the space of five minutes he had two goals ruled out for
offside. The second, when Ndunduma got to the touchline and pulled the ball
back for him, was extremely harsh.
This result means three points away at White
Knight next weekend will see the seconds finish in the top half of the table in
their debut season.
