For the second week running the Baptists scored seven goals at home. This time though the opposition doubled their tally and left with all three points.

A quite incredible encounter where there was a goal on average every six minutes ironically witnessed the opening goal on six minutes. Rangers used their pace upfront to latch onto a long ball over the home defence and despite a fine initial save from keeper Tim Nunn, the rebound was tapped in.

On ten minutes the home side were level when good work from Max Sztyber and Josh Mullett following a fumble by the keeper resulted in David Ndunduma having a simple chance at the far post.

Dom Fowler then shot wide when he had cleverly beaten the offside trap, before Max put the Baptists infront just past the half hour when he headed home a cross from debutant Aaron Dreeling. David then stretched this lead when he latched onto a ball in the area and shot low across the keeper into the bottom corner.

On forty minutes, for the second successive game, there was a controversial goal for the visitors. Another high bouncing ball down the middle was latched on to and the powerful shot was parried by Tim and appeared to go into the net. However the ball appeared on the bank behind the goal and, on not managing to find a gap in the net where the ball could have passed, the referee awarded a corner. It took the intervention of the Baptists skipper, Dale Scowen, to persuade the referee to award the goal to Rangers. After this five minute delay the home side lost their concentration and were punished a minute before the break as another ball over the defence was lashed home to bring the sides level.

Having talked about improving the defensive display at half time and bring on Steve Chapman to aid the organisation of the back four, conceding an own goal inside two minutes was not part of the plan. Some mistimed clearances led to the ball flying around the box and in a bid to stop the Hastings forward scoring Wes Langley could only knock it over his own line.

The Baptists were back on terms with three minutes as a powerful run down the right from David resulted in a clear penalty which Dale dispatched with ease. Four minutes later and the home side were again infront as David again did the Rangers left back and slid the ball across for Matt Lee to fire home.

Virtually from the kick off Rangers equalised when a ball was switched to the left winger, who cut inside and rifled home. Wes then had to come off with a sore knee, which saw another reshuffle in defence with Jake Wilkinson coming on on the right wing.

In the seventieth minute the Baptists were yet again punished with a ball over the top as the away side moved into the lead. Ten minutes later a hamstring injury ended Steve’s afternoon and he was replaced by Stuart Calderwood, meaning the back four now consisted of three midfielders alongside Max.

This did not deter the home side and a minute later they equalised through Jake. Two minutes later they were in the lead as forceful play from David on the left ended with a cross into the centre of the box. There the ball was met with a crashing volley from Dom that flew into the back of the net.

With only five minutes to go the men in orange failed to close out the game as first a corner went over Tim and was headed in at the far post, before in the third minute of injury time another high ball did all the damage as the defence failed to recover and the Rangers forward buried his chance from the edge of the box.
