About
"Football as God intended"
The above statement sums up the spirit of Battle Baptist Football Club.
Football, "the beautiful game", is a gift from God. He has given us footballing skills to develop with flair, physical fitness and a commitment to teamwork.
Winning is important and we love to win, but we believe that doing our best and playing fairly are more important. BBFC encourages players, officials and spectators to enjoy football in whatever way they can. The participation, and the enjoyment of the game, matter more than the winning of matches.
In
particular, the club encourages:
- A positive, friendly
attitude to everyone involved in a football game, be it the opposition,
their spectators or any of the match officials.
- An exciting, creative approach
to our style of play.
- A real enthusiasm to
develop football ability in terms of skill, technique, tactics and
stamina.
- Opportunities for prayer,
especially before each match.
- A competitive but fair
attitude, which means that yellow cards are rare and red cards are
non-existent. We especially discourage:
- deliberate foul play
- all forms of gamesmanship
- arguing with match
officials
- inappropriate language of
any kind
We aim to show a Christian witness within our community. Not everyone in our club will be Christian believers but all members are required to sign up to a Code of Conduct (see below) that provides a positive example of behaviour and ensures peace on God's turf.
Code of Conduct:
- As a member of Battle
Baptist FC, I will endeavour at all times to abide by the code of conduct
set out by The Football Association in their Administration Handbook.
- I will act in a
sportsman-like manner, showing equal respect to other club members,
opponents, match officials and spectators.
- I will abide by the laws,
rules and spirit of the game and I will avoid gamesmanship.
- I will set a positive example
to others, and encourage them to develop their own sporting ability.
- I understand that my membership
will be reviewed and terminated if I do not follow this Code of Conduct.
