After
only 5 minutes the nippy Cranbrook attacker hit a 25-yard curling strike just
inside the post. It took half an hour to get into the swing, and BBFC deserved
to equalise just before the break when Dave and Dale interchanged passes down
the right wing, releasing Gary whose cross hit the sticky pitch in
front of Tom and the ball flew over the bar. 10 minutes into the 2nd half, Alan
replaced a luckless Dom. Now operating in attack, Tom danced
past 2 Cranbrook defenders to release Gary who waltzed round the oncoming
keeper and swivelled to shoot the equaliser high into the roof of the net.
Moments later, following a promising
corner, a clash of heads left Gary needing stitches in an open face wound.
Without a recognised front-line attacker it became increasingly difficult to
break out of our solid defensive cordon and the game petered out to its
inevitably equal conclusion.
