Good return to action
I think all involved with the seconds can be proud of their return to action yesterday. We played a side in the top half who had won more than half their games and had a positive goal difference. We had the lead twice and came away disappointed with a 3-3 draw (ignore what is says currently on the esfl site!). This is a great sign and is indicative of the growing confidence in the side.
I won't pick out any individuals, everyone did really well and if we continue this we can start to move up the table. We should fear no-one in this division and on our day we can beat any of the sides home or away.

WHAT A GREAT DAY!!!
Congratulations to everyone who played their part in the 1sts win against Red Lion yesterday. I hadn't realised that they were 2nd in the Division!
There were 3 special moments for me...the first was the suspense when Gary Wenham came into the changing room and calmly announced that Valentino wasn't playing - I since found out that he's injured his knee playing indoor football - we wish him a speedy recovery.
Adam's 5th minute looping header was wonderfully celebrated by me down the other end of the field, and Dave's (or was it Mike's - the paper will confirm on Friday) winner was a treasurable moment.
But what about the Mills brothers volleys? Both were rockets destined for the net but both hit the defender.
It's a really encouraging start to the 'new' season. Next week we face Burwash who keep losing but only by the odd goal. Should be great - just so long as I can get replacements for my brand new keepers gloves that tore on their first outing yesterday.
Please check the availability in TEAM NEWS. I need to know immediately if you can't play in any of the next 3 games. That's Feb 3rd, 10th, and 17th.

CHANGE OF FIXTURE -Sat.27th .Jan
Ours is not to reason why...
...the League has changed our 1st team fixture this Saturday - we're now at home to Red Lion - if only it will stop raining!!!
At least we're still at home which makes it easier for us following the Player's Breakfast in the morning.

2nd Team training
Many thanks to those who showed for today's session. If the game is off next week unfortunately we will have to be outside on the tennis courts as the hall is fully booked.
I was a little disappointed at the turnout as it resulted in those that turned up having to pay more for the session than I would like. I realise people like to take advantage of when we have no game and spend their Saturdays another way and that is fine, but I had asked to let me know so I could sort player numbers. Only one person did yet another 10 did not come. We picked the hall hire for the time when we would have been playing anyway, so everyone had previously said they would have been free then.
When we book the hall it costs us £24 so for future weeks can I ask that people do get in touch if they cannot make it (a quick email or text will do) so I know whether to invite others or to cancel the session if we are short on attendees.
Before next week's match/training session we have a free fry-up at the player's breakfast which is the perfect prelude to an energetic afternoon. I look forward to seeing you all then.

2nd Team game is off!
Unfortunately the match v White Knight is off. The pitches have improved a lot this week but it would ruin them for basically the rest of the season if they were played on today.
The first team have indoor training from 12-1 at Claverham, while the 2nds are out in the fresh air on the tennis courts from 1-2.

BBFC I v MAYFIELD...postponed!
More disappointment this morning as Mayfield rang to say that parts of their pitch are underwater due to the overnight rain, making it unfit to play on.
As of right now (Sat 9:53am) the 2nds game is still ON - we have not heard from Pelham about the condition of the Buxton Drive pitches.
Training is normal this week. We'll be at Claverham Wed evening at 6:30pm.
PLEASE LET STEVE OR MYSELF KNOW OF YOUR AVAILABILITY FOR NEXT SAT - 13TH JANUARY. We'll assume that all players are available unless you have told us otherwise.
