OLD HASTONIANS REARRANGED- Thurs. 30th Jan

Kick Off 2pm. Meet at Zion Chapel 12:45pm.
Stop at Layby just before Conquest at 1:00pm.
Get to Guestling Recreational Ground by 1:15pm

Claverham pitch waterlogged.
We've managed to avoid cancelling the game by arranging to play it at Guestling - the home of Icklesham Casuals

Directions:
Follow the Ridge to the end and take the A259 towards Rye.
Drive past Hillcrest School, down the long hill through Guestling Village.
After passing the Primary school at the end of the village, the pitch is a further half mile on the left hand side. (Up the hill and around a couple of bends).
The gate to the ground is a Farm style gate - it seems like you're entering a farmer's field - but there is a small sign indicating the playing field.

Can't wiat to see you all there.

SQUAD TO PLAY OLD HASTONIANS - Thurs. 30th Jan

Kick Off 2pm. Meet at Claverham by 1:15pm latest.

Everyone available will play in this friendly fixture against the team that beat us 3-2 in the Hastings Junior Chalenge Cup at the beginning of September.

Owen Davies, Dom Fowler, Andy Frere-Smith, Bryn Frere-Smith, Tom Frere-Smith, Andy Garlick, Chris Mammone, Pat Mammone, Andy Mills, Dave Mills, Ian Nunn, Gary Walsh, Gary Wenham.

Old Hastonians lie 2nd in Division 3, four points behind the leaders but with 4 games in hand. They look favourites to win Div 3 and, like us, are not keen to have a 3 week break at a time when they have struck a vein of form.

It's a great testament to the strength of our squad that we are fielding an excellent team despite the non-availability of several regulars.

God bless everyone associated with BBFC.

SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD

Included with the January League Fixtures that came in the post today were the current positions in the SPORTSMANSHIP TROPHY.

Each time we play, the referee awards a mark out of ten, depending on the Sportmanlike behaviour shown to him by the players, officials and supporters of each team.

As it stands at the moment, with an average score of 9.25, we are in 2nd place behind Tackleway III (9.66) - that's the team we played at home in the Cup.

Beulah Baptists, Burfield Tyres, and Victoria Baptists are joint 3rd on 9.00, then Hastings APF (8.75) and Punnetts Town (8.70).

Thanks to all players for contributing to this achievement.
Thanks also to all the club officers, and especially to Doug Turner, who works diligently to ensure that the referee has an enjoyable Saturday afternoon.
The Sportmanship Trophy is important to BBFC because it reflects our underlying belief that football doesn't need to be played in an antisocial atmosphere and that it should be enjoyed by EVERYONE...That's players (on both teams), match officials and supporters.

CONGRATULATIONS!
Wouldn't it be fantastic to be in front at the close of the season!? With your help, we can do it!!

JANUARY FIXTURES

Have you seen the January fixtures?

It's a tough month that could see us moving further up the table if we can keep the winning habit.

We start off with an away fixture with our friends Beulah (8th Jan.)
That's followed up with the return match at home against Hastings Rangers, the team that beat us 4-0 on the 'Wedding Day' (15th Jan.).
Then it's Little Common away, another mouthwatering encounter (22nd Jan.).

All 3 teams are above us in the League so 3 wins would certainly move us higher in the League.

BBFC 2-0 EASTBOURNE FISHERMEN - Sat. 18th Dec - Home

What a win!!!

We played our best football of the season and deserved to be at least 4 goals up by half time.
Unfortunately, well-conjured chances were squandered, as the blessed Fishermen Keeper caught everything that came his way.

Shortly after the interval, Andy Frere-Smith retired his hamstring as a precaution that keeps him available to play in defence next week.

Soon afterwards, when it looked like we would never score, Bryn sparkled down the right wing and his goalbound shot was hammered home by a Fishermen's Friend. 1-0.

Now we played with confidence again and the result was never in doubt, especially since the Fishermen were reduced to ten, when a career-threatening two-footed lunge on Owen left the ref with no choice but to produce a straight red.
With time fizzling towards another epic 1-0 victory, the Baptists broke free from the solid defence. Gary's pinpoint pass released Bryn whose 18 yard shot seemed premature but was unstoppable as it squeezeed in at the near post for 2-0.
