BOTH TODAY'S GAMES OFF...
Both Sedlescombe and Herstmonceux had their act together early this mornining and inspected their pitches.
The bad news is that both were unfit so neither 1sts or 2nds have a game today.
Next week the firsts have a change of fixture. They will be at home to Northiam.
The 2nds game against Sedlescombe has also been efficiently rescheduled for Tuesday 15th April 6:15pm KO. (yes that's right, Tuesday).
Training will soon change back to grass and I encourage anyone who would like to play next year to attend. Watch the website to see if it's at Claverham or the Rec.
Don't forget to buy your tickets very soon for the Presentation Awards Dinner...16th May.
Voting for Annual Awards...I've emailed the voting slip to anyone whose email address I have. Please email me if you haven't received yours.

ARE THE GAMES ON?...
As of Friday evening, both games are still on.
Herstmonceux are hopeful that a strong wind and no more rain may be good enough to dry the pitch sufficiently for our 1sts to play.
Claverham have declared the school pitch unfit so the the seconds game is dependent on Sedlescombe's pitch being available. Sedlescombe's secretary reported tonight that if thier 1st team game away at Sandhurst is cancelled, then the Sedlescombe pitch will be used for their 1sts, who have a backlog of fixtures. Otherwise our 2nds will play at Sedlescombe.
Keep your eye on the website for further news in the morning.

CLOSE CALL FOR VALIANT 1STs
After the Battle pitch was deemed unfit just 10 minutes before kick off, the players hastily travelled to Catsfield to play in wintery conditions.
Catsfield took an early lead but the Baptists equalised just before the break when a rare left foot cross from Owen Davies was converted at the back post by a determined Alan Cowley.
Against the blustering wind in the second half, the Baptist team dug in hard and played with guts and determination, matching Catsfield in every department until 10 minutes from time when the Catsfield right-midfielder used the wind superbly to curl an unstoppable shot into the to top corner from 25 yards.
Catsfield will now surely end in second place to gain promotion whilst Battle, although disappointed not to get a point, can be greatly encouraged by their performance in exceptional conditions.

GOD'S MOTH BITE STINGS!!!
A scintilating second half display by the first team saw them come back from a goal down in yesterday's game against Hastings Rangers. Goals from Pete Cooper and Ian Rafati put the Baptists in a strong position before a bizarre own goal gave Rangers thier first draw of the season.
The seconds didn't fair so well, going down 5-1 in an uncomfortable game away from home. After Matt Lee was spat at in the face by an opponent, God gave me these words to reflect upon (Isaiah, Chapter 51).
"Hear me you who know what is right,
you people who have my law in your hearts:
Do not fear the reproach of men
or be terrified by their insults.
For the moth will eat them up like a garment;
the worm will devour them like wool.
But my rifgteousness will last forever,
my salvation throughout all generations."
We need not fear when people insult us or try to hurt us because God is with us and truth will prevail. If people make fun of you or dislike you, remember that they are not against you personally, but against God. he will deal with them in his way and he is just. You should concentrate on loving and obeying Him. God's moth-bite stings!!!

White Knight 2-1 BBFC I
Two goals in 2 second half minutes turned the game around in favour of White Knight after Adam Staplahurst had given BBFC the lead from a corner in the first half. Ollie Jeffs and Gary Walsh both had great opportuities to extend the lead before a catastrophic two minute period left the Baptists regreting their missed chances, in blustery conditions at Sports Park yesterday.

BAPTIST STRIKERS ON FIRE
Three well deserved points take Battle Baptist front side up a position in Division 2, as Tom Frere-Smith and Gary Walsh shared out the goals to ensure their 2008 form continues.
With the high sun and strong wind in the faces of the Mayfield defenders, the home team made a bright and breezy start, narrowly missing two quick chances before falling behind after 5 minutes when loose marking at a corner allowed the Mayfield attacker to knock the ball home from close range.
Within moments though, the Baptists cracked open the Mayfield defence with a swift passing move that Tom Frere-Smith finished off with a clinical strike inside the upright to level.
Mayfield defended strongly and a counter-attack restored their lead before Gary Walsh turned up at the back post to shoot in from a tight angle after the ball was lofted in from the left.
As the break approached, Frere-Smith fed Walsh on the edge of the box, and the hungry striker swallowed his chance with a precise shot to end the half with a narrow lead which would have been larger had it not been for some stalwart defending by the visitors.
Ian Rafiti added even more fizz to the Baptist attack when he replaced tricky Dave Sitch 5 minutes into the second half. Playing down the other flank, hardworking Ollie Jeffs opened up a space to shoot but his 25 yard effort flew over the bar whilst Battle defenders Adam Staplehurst and Alan Cowley both came agonisingly close to scoring with headers from corner situations.
When Frere-Smith finally beat the tight Mayfield offside trap to roll in the fourth it looked like the points were in the Battle bag, but the away side showed gritty character, narrowing the gap to one after Baptist goalkeeper Grant Lewis was adjudged to have held the ball for more than 6 seconds. The resultant indirect free kick was slotted inside the right post from a central 17-yard position, gifting Mayfield a sporting chance of a draw.
As Mayfield pushed for the equaliser, Battle broke down the left crossing to Walsh who rounded the keeper and completed his hat-trick to secure the result 5 minutes from time.
