CONGRATULATIONS BBFC

There's no game this coming weekend so I've no squad to bring you at this point in the week.

But I would like to point you in the direction of the 'Fixtures' section of the website. You can read a full report on the superb win against Little Common if you click on the result.

This was a fantastic performance by an ever-improving side and congratulations must go out to all the players involved.

The 3 points take us back to 2nd in the League. Doesn't it look great to see our Club up there at the top end of Division 5.

The Division Title looks as though one of 7 or 8 sides are in serious contention.
And, if it's God's will, there's no reason why we can't still be up there at the end of the season.
Worth prayer don't you think.
Let's see what we can achieve in our first season together! Is the Championship unthinkable? I certainly don't think we're out of our depth.

See you all at training on Wednesday...and it's still not too late to join us for breakfast on Saturday morning to see what Daniel Cousins has to say about Battle's future. Bring a friend and be sure to wear your BBFC training top.

FRIDAY NIGHT NEWS

Have you seen the February Fixtures? (www.esfl.org)

First weekend in Feb. we play Hastings APF away. Still without a win, APF had their best result of the season last Saturday going down just 3-1 to a promising Punnetts Town team. I can't believe that APF will go throught the whole season witout a win. Let's pray that we don't give them their first points.

On the 12th, we entertain Wadhurst at home. This is as good a fixture as we could have hoped for on the day that five regulars are unavailable.

19th Feb - no game

26th Feb.- Beulah at home.

Not so good news about Dale who rang up tonight. He feels very uncomfortable coming straight back into the side after his unavailability last week and, after much heartsearching consideration, has very sportingly given up his place in the tomorrow's team.
This comes as a disappointment to us, not only because of his strength in the centre of midfield, but also because of his influence off the field as well.
However, Dale is at peace with his decision and we must respect this and play on.
There are 3 options that I'm considering, and I won't make a final decision until tomorrow.

Tomorrow we have Bryn available for the last time. After then he has training and preparation for his adventure in Bolivia and unfortunately his availability coincides with our free Saturdays.
We all wish Bryn well for a fantastic trip. Do they have internet in Bolivia?

Have a good night's sleep. I'll see you tomorrow.

Jamie Pooley, Owen Davies, Gary Williams, Andy Frere-Smith, Darrell Hartley, Dave Mills, Stuart Batchelor, **** ******, Andy Mills, Bryn Frere-Smith, Tom Frere-Smith.
Subs:Richard Ahsam, Dom Fowler, Gary Walsh, Gary Wenham.

SQUAD TO PLAY LITTLE COMMON - Sat. 22nd Jan. Away

Kick Off 2pm. Meet at Zion Chapel by 12:30pm latest. Alternatively, 1:15pm at the Recreational Ground, Pear Tree Lane, Little Common.

You know it took several hours before I finally came to terms with our loss yesterday. I kept telling myself the truth...that it was just a game of football and a great one at that. And that sometimes in football you don't get what you deserve.

Even today I'm hurting. However we have so much to be encouraged by.
We are still playing exceptionally well and creating chances. The fact is that we will learn from yesterday's experience and will grow stronger as a result.

Well done to everyone and praise God for what he is doing in us!!

Next week we look forward to another challenge as we take on Little Common.

Some bright players alerted me to the fact that the League had withdrawn our Jan. 29th fixture against Punnetts Town from the ESFL website. Having checked it out we can now confirm that we have no League fixture on this date.
We will not be arranging a friendly, partly because it would be difficult to find a pitch and a referee.
However, please email me or talk to me if you have any other reasonable suggestions as to how you would like to spend this free Saturday.

I have one other issue on my mind that I want to share with you in the hope that you will pray about it and let me have your own thoughts and opinions.
Player selection is not diffricult for me at the moment because our policy is to pick the strongest team (according to me). However, this policy has meant that in recent weeks, Gary Wenham, Dominic, and Richard have not been brought on as subs and I myself have had little match time.
I would dearly like to know (in private) what your thoughts and concerns are on this matter.

Have a great week! See you at training on Wednesday...and don't get down about last Saturday!!!

Jamie Pooley, Richard Ahsam, Stuart Batchelor, Owen Davies, Dom Fowler, Andy Frere-Smith, Bryn Frere-Smith, Tom Frere-Smith, Darrell Hartley, Andy Mills, Dave Mills, Dale Scowen, Gary Walsh, Gary Wenham, Gary Williams.

SQUAD TO PLAY HASTINGS RANGERS- Sat. 15th Jan - HOME

Kick Off 2pm. Meet at Claverham by 1:15pm at the latest.

What a fantastic result last Saturday and the perfect way to start the challenging January schedule!!

Coming from behind to beat Beulah 3-1 lifted us to 2nd in the League with a game in hand over them.

Other results went well for us too. Hawkhurst were beaten 4-2 at home by Cranbrook. And Little Common shared 6 goals apiece at Wadhurst.

The only doubt for Saturday is whether Tom can persuade his parents to delay his return to University in order to play in the crucial return fixture against the side that beat us on the notorious 'Wedding Day'...(Oh go on Andy! Let him play)

Wed. 6:30-8pm back to TRAINING AS USUAL!!! see you there.

Jamie Pooley, Richard Ahsam, Stuart Batchelor, Owen Davies, Dom Fowler, Andy Frere-Smith, Bryn Frere-Smith, Tom Frere-Smith, Darrell Hartley, Andy Mills, Dave Mills, Dale Scowen, Gary Walsh, Gary Wenham, Gary Williams.

Team to be posted here on Thursday evening (late evening because of Parents' Evening)

TEAM TO PLAY BEULAH BAPTISTS- Sat. 8th Jan

Kick Off 2pm. Meet at Zion Chapel by 12:30pm latest. Alternatively, 1:15pm at the Bulverhythe (tip end changing rooms).

This is a massive game for us, only because if we win, we move in 2nd place and we begin to look like promotion material.
The fact that it is against Beulah has no important significance, except that we will need to be determined and courageous because the game is sure to be tough.
Prepare for a poor surface and windy conditions.
Remember ALWAYS that we are ambassidors of Christians everywhere. Let us enjoy a magnificent game!
