BBFC 2-3 Beulah
It was amazing that there was just enough of a gap in the snowy weather to play on Saturday. The pitch was heavy and didn't lend itself to pretty football but we still scored 2 clever goals and defended really well.
Having scored 2 goals in a minute to lead 2-1 at half time, it looked like being a great afternoon for us.
But credit to Beulah for the way they played in the second half to come out 3-2 winners.
Next week we play Bodiam away. Let's look forward to a BOUNCE BACK performance when we'll have Tom back (and maybe Bryn too) to spearhead the attack.
BEWARE THE NEW KICK OFF TIME OF 3PM.
Give prayer to Andy Garlick who stopped a shot during traning last Wednesday, breaking his wristbone in the process. He bravely played on (to keep the sides even) thinking it was just a sprain.
Let's pray that Andy's arm heals quickly.
I also picked up an injury during the match yesterday. I tweeked my medial ligament on the inside of mu left knee. I'm not certain how long it will take to heal but Saturday is unlikely.

I think I've solved the mysterious appearance of 3 points to Red Lion.
On the 15th Jan they were due to play Bodiam at Sports Park and the ESFL result reported that the match was POSTPONED.
I don't yet know the reason but Red Lion have been awarded the points and the website is yet to be updated for Bodiam.
This is the second time this season that Bodiam have failed to fulfill a fixture(if indeed that is the reason).

Hastings APF 0-0 BBFC
Another stonking result for BBFC. Well done everyone.
* 2 goals for debutant veteran Steve Chapman
* a clean sheet
* no injuries
OUR GOD IS GREAT!!!
It might have been more but for the APF keeper who saved numerous chances including a penalty.
The 3 points maintain our position at number 3 in the Division but we made great progress because of other results yeasterday.
Beulah dropped 2 points drawing 1-1 with Cranbrook (a familiar result?)
Little Common did us a favour by beating Red Lion 2-0. (Someone else needs to do us a favour by beating Little Common sometime)
Bodiam lost to Northiam 7-1 can you believe? (watch out for a rampant Northiam side that can't do US any harm)
Finally, shock of the day was Robertsbridge 4 Punnetts Town 0. More dropped points for Punnetts Town would be welcomed.
All in all, another good day at the office.
See you all at training on Wednesday.

p.s. I'll leave you with a puzzle to ponder over for the week.
Where did Red Lion suddenly get another 3 points from between Friday evening and Saturday evening when they lost to Little Common? see www.esfl.org.uk

News that Dom's not available for any February fixtures is ofset by the availability of the wiley Steve Chapman who is able to play all over the field.
We hope Steve will complement Tom and provide a target, holding the ball to enable players to support the attack.
We enjoyed a superb December and January but as we enter a new month we must approach this game against the Division's bottom side with a strong attitude and spirit.
I'm convinced that APF will not go through the season without picking up a point. We must ensure that their first point doesn't come this Saturday.

Team News
It's a strong squad to play Hastings APF this weekend.
The only unavailable player is Andy Frere-Smith who's in the market for a new house.
It's likely that Gary Wenham will come in as a straight replacement in defence.
The only other likely change to the starting line-up that beat Little Common 3-1 is the inclusion of Dominic in attack.
One of the subs spots will be taken by Steve Chapman. Steve signed on for us in September but because he has other obligations on Wednesday evenings, he's never been in contention for a place in the side. We'll need Steve's talents the following week against Wadhurst so I'm hoping I can give him some kind of a game this Saturday.
The full squad...
Jamie Pooley, Owen Davies, Gary Williams, Gary Wenham, Darrell Hartley, Dave Mills, Stuart Bactchelor, Gary Walsh, Andy Mills, Dom Fowler, Tom Frere-Smith, Richard Ahsam, Steve Mumford, Steve Chapman, Ian Nunn.
