SQUAD FOR PUNNETTS TOWN - Sat.2ND April - Away
Great News for Ollie Jeffs and the other young players!!
The Under 16 law which will prevent anyone under 16 from playing in men's football will not come into force until the 2006/7 season (not this September as previously informed)
More Great News...Steve Mumford is getting married on Sat. June 25th June. Steve has invited all players and partners to the evening do. Please keep this night free. Steve needs to know numbers (for catering) and I'll organise a count soon.
Even more News...Eastbourne Fishermen played 3 first team players against us on 19th March. This seems harsh on us, especially on a day when our own team was depleated. However Rule 8 para D of the ESFL rules states that 'a team shall not play more than FOUR players who have taken part in any more senior competition matches during the current season unless 42 days has elapsed since they played'.
I'm at peace with this now. We were challenged to play Fishermen on a day that their 1st team didn't play. Looking back, we did a creditable job and could have easily beaten them.
Now for the Team News
No Jamie (work), no Steve Chapman (holiday), no Steve Mumford, no Ian Nunn, Andy Frere-Smith (doubtful - in Spain - has anyone got news?).
Gary Williams is back. Andy Mills is making good progress and hopes to play. Pat's ankle is healing well, as are all the scabs on everyone's legs!
Gary Williams, Owen Davies, Gary Wenham, Richard Ahsam, Andy Frere-Smith, Darrell Hartley, Dave Mills, Dale Scowen, Stuart Batchelor, Andy Mills, Gary Walsh, Tom Frere-Smith, Pat Mammone, Ben Garlick.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE AVAILABLE FOR THE NEXT TWO GAMES (call or email)
Wed.6th April KO 6pm HAWKHURST - Away
Sat.9th April KO 3pm HAWKHURST - Home (Battle Rec - not Claverham)

BBFC 3-1 Punnetts Town
I'm so thankful for yesterday!
Congratulations to everyone on another great performance. It's great to get another win after the results of the last 3 weeks.
Dale made a magnificent difference, playing in midfield.
Pat also did a brilliant job in right midfield despite playing with a heavily strapped ankle. He was always busy and energetic. It's wonderful to see him back.
For me the man of the match was Ian. The defence were excellent again and apart from an unstoppable shot for their goal, he didn't have a lot to deal wit. But he played with much more confidence and dealt effectively with any threats.
We look forward to next week now, when we play Punnetts Town again, this time at their ground. No doubt they will be even more eager to make amends but we have nothing to fear. Enjoyment is the aim.
Look out for the match report on the website and in the paper.

Steve Chapman has ruled himself out having aggrevated the calf muscle injury sustained initially against Beulah.
Steve Mum, Jamie and Gary Will are unavailable this week, but Pat returns from University and will play.
Andy Mills will play if (no when!!!) he passes a late fitness test on Saturday morning.
I'm feeling very relaxed about the game against Punnetts Town and really looking forward to meeting my old friends again. This is the team that Owen, Gary Wenham and I left last season before the birth of BBFC. We all left Punnetts Town on good terms and both teams have enjoyed a fabulous season this year, currently sitting side by side at the top end of the Division.
Alfie was a fine attacker in his time. He's now even older than Andy F-S (sorry Andy) but sometimes plays when they are short.
I would liken Alfie's attitude to that of Newcastle (pronounced Ncastle)in that it doesn't matter how many goals they concede just so long as they score more. They do have some very skillfull players in attack and we will need to defend effectively. But as well as scoring plenty, Punnetts Town have also conceded lots of goals too - that's very encouraging for Tom, me, Andy, Dave and Stuart (Oh ...and not forgetting you Darrell).
Whatever happens, the reason why I'm relaxed about it is because, for me the tention of promotion has been releived by our last 3 games. I want us to go out and enjoy our football full of good spirit...
...and wait until you see the BBFC cart. I've used the same people that designed the logos on British Airways tail fins!!!
I'm still considering the team and formation so you'll have to wait until Saturday to get the low down. The squad is...
Ian Nunn, Owen Davies, Gary Wenham, Richard Ahsam, Andy Frere-Smith, Darrell Hartley, Dave Mills, Stuart Batchelor, Andy Mills, Gary Walsh, Tom Frere-Smith, Pat Mammone, Ben Garlick.
Ian needs a couple of volunteers to warm him up well for the game. He has a special request.
I'll bring plenty of Deep Heat - I think it'll be in high demand this weekend!

Eastbourne 2-0 BBFC
Yesterday's 2-0 defeat at Eastbourne Fishermen doesn't tell the full story. We played twice as well as the previous week, creating 5 or 6 clear opportunities to score. In strangely warm conditions and on a very hard pitch (most of us have the grazes to show), we worked hard and I feel we didn't get the breakes we deserved.
Steve Mumford played his heart out in attack and Ian also deserves great praise for the way he courageously volunteered to play in goal.
Once again we had to ensure disgraceful behaviour from our opposition and a referee that waits too long to punish it.
Congratulations to all the players who represented our club honourably and played football the way it should be played - in a competitive and friendly spirit.
Squad for Punnetts Town is
Ian Nunn, Owen Davies, Gary Wenham, Andy Frere-Smith, Darrell Hartley, Dave Mills, Stuart Batchelor, Gary Walsh, Andy Mills, Tom Frere-Smith, Steve Chapman, Richard Ahsam, Pat Mammone.
TEAM FOR EASTBOURNE FISHERMEN - Away - Sat. 19th March
Sorry for the lateness of the team announcement. I had internet difficultes on Thursday evening.
The search fo a keeper is over...We scouted all over the country and found him right nunnder our noses at BBFC!!!
Team for Saturday is
Ian Nunn, Owen Davies, Gary Wenham, Andy Frere-Smith, Darrell Hartley, Dave Mills, Stuart Batchelor, Gary Walsh, Andy Mills, Tom Frere-Smith, Steve Chapman.
Subs:Steve Mumford, Richard Ahsam.
Fishermen play at Whitley Road which is fairly central Eastbourne. From the Crumbles follow the road into Eastbourne, straight over the roundabout with Lotbridge Drove (at Wickes/Sainsbury's). Drive another half mile or so until you come to traffic lights at the junction with Whitley Road. Turn right onto Whitley Road and immediately right again. Park here.
Doug has printed off maps to follow. I'll have them when we meet...please ask.
We will meet at the church in Mount Street Battle at 1:25pm for a prompt 1:30pm departure.
Alternatively meet us at Whitley Road no later than 2:15pm
Kick off is 3pm.
Can't wait to see you there.
"Don't forget the bottles Owen".
Andy wiil bring the oranges as usual.
First Aider is Alan Anderton.
Club statistics have been updated and the match details are here to view.
BBFC 2-2 Wadhurst
Eastbourne Fishermen DO NOT play at Princes Park as was suggested yesterday.
The address of their pitch is Whitley Road but...
...the exact details will be given out later in the week...there are still several outstanding issues surrounding the venue of the game.
WATCH THIS SPACE.
Yesterday's 2-2 draw against Wadhurst was a disappointment and reminds us that we are still a learning side. It's important to reflect positively on our performance, both as individuals and as a team, but let's be upbeat about it. Next week we have the opportunity to bounce back against the Fishermen before coming up against some of the more difficult fixtures in late March and April.
In the team talk before the match I tried to prepare the team for the game but little was transfered onto the pitch. Again we started very slowly and were unable to impose ourselves in order to dictate the tempo.
There are 2 slight consolations to yesterday's result. One is that at least we didn't give points to one of our rivals at the top of the division. We still have massively imortant games to play against the likes of Hawkhurst (x2) Punnetts Town (x2) and Red Lion. Winning the League may be a long shot now, but we still have a great chance of finishing top 3.
The second consolation is that Punnetts Town and Hawkhurst drew 1-1, the perfect result for us since both teams dropped 2 points.
Once again I was delighted with the way we handled ourselves yesterday in the face of outrageous behaviour from the opposition. Let's not forget that we are setting the right example of attitude and behaviour...we just have to wait a little longer for the rest of the League to cotton on.
The squad for Saturday's game is...
Jamie Pooley, Owen Davies, Ian Nunn, Gary Wenham, Andy Frere-Smith, Richard Ahsam, Darrell Hartley, Dave Mills, Steve Mumford, Stuart Batchelor, Andy Mills, Gary Walsh, Tom Frere-Smith, Steve Chapman.
Hope to see everyone at training on Wednesday...6:30pm as usual
Have a great week and look forward to Saturday.
Kick off 3pm ... Note the new KO time!!!
Meet at Claverham by 2:15pm latest. Please don't arrive late.
Jamie Pooley, Ian Nunn, Gary Wenham, Gary Williams, Darrell Hartley, Dave Mills, Andy Frere-Smith, Stuart Batchelor, Andy Mills, Tom Frere-Smith, Dominic Fowler.
Subs: Owen Davies, Richard Ahsam, Steve Mumford, Steve Chapman, Gary Walsh.
It's a strong team that will take the field in a game that we need to win in order to recapture the momentum lost because of the poor weather.
I want to start Saturday's game against Wadhurst with Ian Nunn right back. This is a game when I believe that I can reward Ian's loyalty and regular availability by giving him 45 minutes. Owen will almost certainly come on at half time.
Gary Walsh tested his knee injury at training on Wednesday and it doesn't look promising. His inclusion as sub will satisfy his desire to be involved, but only a particular set of circumstances will see him play.
Steve Chapman steps aside for Dominic to play in attack. This will probably be Dom's last game before shooting off.
Steve Mumford and Richard Ahsam return as subs.
Pray for the success of the team this weekend, that all the players play to their best ability, that no-one is injured, and that their is peace in our Club.
With so many top teams still to play each other, the Division is still wide open, both for the winner's title and for promotion.
Remember that we are also in with a great chance of winning the Sportmanship trophy. There is still so much to play for!!!
Praise Jesus.
Hope all you footballers had a great football knock around at Claverham on Saturday afternoon and that none of you got injured!!!
My knee still doesn't feel strong so I took the precaution of not playing.
Today I began to think about End Of Season Awards. If you have any good ideas for 'tongue-in-cheek' awards then try to let me know WITHOUT too many other people earwigging.
You might like to start to think about who you might vote for...
... Player of the Season, Most Improved Player, Sportsman of the Year, Clubman of the Year.
Of course we still have 9 games left for things to change so don't be too fixed in your views.
This being the first ever BBFC Presentations, we need some trophies. If anyone would like to donate a trophy (costs vary £50-£100), or if you know of anyone else in the church who might want to, please don't wait...let me know.
The squad for Saturday's game is...
Jamie Pooley, Owen Davies, Ian Nunn, Gary Wenham, Gary Williams, Andy Frere-Smith, Richard Ahsam, Darrell Hartley, Dave Mills, Steve Mumford, Stuart Batchelor, Andy Mills, Gary Walsh, Tom Frere-Smith, Steve Chapman, Dominic Fowler.
If things change and you become unavailable, please let me know IMMEDIATELY so that I can plan well.
Hope to see everyone at training on Wednesday...6:30pm as usual
God be with you all.
Bodiam pitch snow-bound and water-logged. More poor weather on the way.
Claverham pitch unavailable (even if it's playable)
Next week is Wadhurst at home. Let me know IMMEDIATELY if you are unavailable.
Meantime, my advice is to spend some time tomorrow shopping for some nice smellies or other stuff to give on Mother's Day so that you have enough brownie points for the weeks to come. Then settle down to watch the six nations.
God Bless you all.
